Charger mounting options

Something had hadnít thought of when I purchased my Iota 55amp charger is that they are not ignition protected. Now I am having an issue of where to mount it. My boat has a gas powered saildrive so mounting it under the cockpit is not acceptable even though the steps are the only thing separating the engine room from the cabin.

My question is about mounting the charger in a storage area under a berth. This area is about 6 feet long by 3 feet wide and following the curve of the hull. Do you think the charger will run too hot in this space without having the top open when charging? My only other option is under the steps which is about 2 feet from the batteries and engine and 5 feet from the fuel tank.

Re: Charger mounting options

Strange you didn't get an answer.

I would install the charger under the berth. I would also install a vent in the berth front - a good idea if the charger is there or not.
