Red face Backfeed Error

I am hoping for an answer to a backfeed error. I was recently attempting to charge my bank of deep cycle batteries with my Honda 2kva generator when my Freedom 20 inverter/charger experienced a backfeed and shut down. The charger is monitored by a Link 2000 monitor inside the boat. If the invert button was pressed on the monitor instead of the charge button could this have caused the Freedom to experience a backfeed when the Honda was started up to charge the batteries? As you may gather I am a "newbie" to many things electrical on boats. Thanks

With that size charger on your Freedom 20, you could well be exceeding the output of the Honda. Try the Power Share feature on the Link:

Hi Brian,

The Honda is connected to the shore power outlet on the boat via a shore power cable. The current is fed to a 240v to 110v step down transformer before it enters the charger.
