Starter Battery replacement, advice needed

My system has two identical 10 year old barreries, not rated in AH. Labled as663 type with a reserve capicty 88 mins?
My needs are simlpe, I run the auto pilot ST1000 a lot, vhf radio, basic instruments and incandesent nav lights.
Currently one battery is not charging so will need replacement, other is fine and engine starts first time.
Also have the one, two or both switch for selection and charging.
Whats my best and simplest solution.
All practicle suggestions welcome, am fairly handy but only have basic electrical experiance.

Safe sailing

Probably the least expensive solution is to buy a starting battery - that is what you probably have now. Should be able to get a good group 24 start battery for $60 or less.

The other option is to use your good battery for starting and get a deep cycle battery for house loads.

Thanks Brian
Sounds practicle.
Reckon I,ll go for a deep cycle house battery and keep the existing as the starter.
Are the gel or AGM worth the extra price in this situation.

No. I would stick with flooded. Not only are they a lot less expensive, the charge voltages for flooded are different from agm and gel - especially gel. Gel can last a long time but they have to be charged at the correct voltage and overcharging will cause them to fail. Agm need charging fully as often as possible - 2 or 3 times a week. In these respects flooded batteries are more tolerant. And definitely the best value.
