thanks for that Opie. Only last week I had a problem with the alternator and needed to replace the internal regulator and the brushes. I have now rewired the connections from/to the tach and whilst testing the engine on her berth the problem did not evidence itself again! But I will need to see how it goes after my fiest outing. thanks again.
