Mystery wire!

I've noticed this blue wire wrapped in with the wiring harness that leads to the starter of my Yanmar 2GM20. One end female, the other male, neither connected to anything! Didn't think to check it for continuity (DUH!), but I'm assuming it's the same wire. It's approximately a foot long. There IS a spare connection on the wiring schematic, but this ain't it! I know it's not a lot to work with, but I would be interested in your thoughts?

I do believe I have that same blue wire in the harness for my 3GM30F. Possibly the wiring harness is used in an application where that wire is needed?

No. My oil sender wire is yellow/white and temp sender is white/blue.

Is yours open on both ends?

I am not familiar with that harness per se..... But in the industry i work in, lots of harnesses have extra wires depending on the options the equipment may or may not have... Just my $0.02

I noticed the same for my Yanmar 2GM20 a few years back. After reading the service manual, I learned it's an unused wire for the 2GM20 and 3GM30. It makes note that the use for that blue wire would be for the 1GM10.

Yes. Has a male connector on the end "toward" the engine.
