I wonder if (IMHO) your "modern era" Ericson has about the same wiring principles as my '88 model?
Our 12 volt neg. buss is located behind the 12 volt breaker panel. There is also a common neg. cable connection point on one ear of the bell housing of the Universal diesel.

There are some owner-contributed pages like you seek, for some models, at the large owners' site at www.ericsonyachts.org ; you will need to check the Downloads section of the site. Your question might also get some traction there, as similar Ericson's of that era will likely have very similar wiring layouts.

When you open your breaker panel, what do you observe? And when you have a look, do post up some pix.

Best,
Loren

ps: your bio sez that you sail a '77 Cal 34. Have you changed boats?
