Re: 12V Connectors

I like rhr1956's answer, but I often use Radio Shack part # 23-444 for items that use awg wire size 12 or 14.

Re: 12V Connectors

The ones shown from the auto parts store corrode out, internally , and there is no way to repair them Tried them, for a while. Switched to Sea Dog plugs .Much better. They can be repaired

Re: 12V Connectors

UPDATE:

After a little research, I found that the "automotive" connectors are known as "SAE Connectors". They are commonly sold with 10ga pigtails, and I will install a few of them to see how they work out. There is also a panel-mount connector available: SAE Panel Mount Connector :: Aerostich/RiderWearHouse Motorcycle Jackets, Suits, Clothing, & Gear . As usual, Google can provide plenty of information and sources.

Re: 12V Connectors

All the best. Get some di-electric grease and put some inside the socket to prevent/dissuade corrosion.

Jeanneau 54DS

In the harsh marine environment, something is always in need of repair. Margaritas fix everything.

Re: 12V Connectors

Grease is a good idea (No-ox-id is what I've seen recommended).

Also, not sure if it works well or not but I've used butyl tape under shrink tubing and in other electrical places I was hoping to seal up.

Re: 12V Connectors

You can also wrap the connector(s) in self-sealing silicon tape (e.g., Rescue Tape).
