Using 12V while on shore power

If I use 12V lights (drawing a couple of amps) while connected to shore power and my (smart) battery charger, does it shorten the life of my batteries, or simply use them as a conduit?

Re: Using 12V while on shore power

Use all the 12v stuff you want. Usually a smart charger will just kick up its output to accommodate the extra load. This will happen until you exceed the capacity of the charger, after which the batteries will supply the needed power.
