Venture 17 Electrical System

I have a Macgergor Venture 17 and I need to install and electrical system. The running lights are there but there are no batteries or cabin lights. Anyone have advice on where to start? Can you buy a kit to do this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Fair Winds!

Re: Venture 17 Electrical System

I think as small and accessible things are on the V-17, I would buy some "portable" kit from attwood or aqua signal from the folks here...if you do not see it, ask....

then I would buy a couple of small 12 vdc gell batteries, one for the boat, one for the charger and swap them back and forth as needed. I am thinking that the new LED gear should run for days on a small gel cell.

Now if you want real wet cell, with permanently installed lights, that would require some panels and better wiring, some charger and shore power and of course more cost. Not sure you want to spend that kind of $$ on the boat. Wet cells and flipped boats do not work well, so be careful there.

all the best

Thanks a bunch! This is exactly what I needed to know. There are a ton of options out there and you are correct I want to do this as low cost as possible.
Thanks again.
