Simrad NSS8 not seeing N2k Backbone

Hours spent crawling around trying to figure out why the NSS8 doesn't see the N2K backbone which has the heading compass connected.

1. I do know the backbone is receiving 12 volts.
2. Yes, there are two end caps on the backbone.
3. I have taken everything off so it now consists of the n2k cable from the MFD and the power connector to the backbone. But still when I go to diagnostics it still shows "Buss - Off".

Simrad help essentially said, "you need to figure it out, maybe the backbone is bad". Not much help.

Any all help, suggestions would be appreciated.

Oh, it used to work last year, only change was that I updated the software this spring.

Thanks.

Ed
