Autohelm 6000 wont Standby

My autohelm 6000+ linear drive works flawlessly - but it wont disengage completely when I put it in standby. After pushing Standby if I force the wheel through big turns back and forth, this seems to 'loosen' it up a bit - but not enough. If I mechanically disconnect the linear drive arm from the rudder quadrant - no problem. I searched and find most have the opposite problem - the unit wants to slip into Standby. The manual says it is remotely possible that a fault could develop which would cause the actuator to remain engaged - even when stand-by is selected. If this happens disconnect the main circuit breaker to the autopilot - or in an emergency the clutch can be overridden by turning the steering wheel hard.
I haven't verified that tripping the breaker eliminates the problem, I'll check that this weekend. In the meanwhile, does anybody have any idea about troubleshooting and repairing this actuator?

Thanks.

Thanks Jim for the contact. I'll drop Dan a line.

I checked this weekend - switching the breaker off made no difference.
