Navico YP500 Auto pilot (help)

Auto Pilot

I have an old Navico Auto Pilot YP500 that does not work. It's on an 1977 Pearson 323. The led's flashes 7 times which in trouble codes said it's the Compass or the Course computer. My question is there an fluxgate compass made by someone else that would work? Mine has 3 wires. Or does anyone know about this Autopilot or should I just start saving for a whole new unit. It is a below deck unit.
