Raymarine Radar Overlay

I have a Raymarine E95 chartplotter, depth, wind, speed, ais, and HD radar. This equipment replaced my NavMan stuff because the displays were failing. I didn't replace my NavMan autopilot because it works just fine, and I had hit my limit on budget. Everything is connected and working with the exception of the radar overlay on the chart. Apparently, compass input is needed for this, not just GPS course over ground from the chartplotter. I'd like to know if I can use either the Raymarine EV-l sensor for this, without adding the rest of the autopilot package, or is the refresh rate on the NavMan compass fast enough to work with the Raymarine chartplotter for the heading input. I know at some point I will need to install the Raymarine autopilot package, so eventually the EV-l sensor would be connected to that as well.
