Connect a Garmin 740s to an Airmar DST800

Greetings,
I purchased an Airmar DST800v direct from Airmar because I wanted the bronze through hull and not the plastic one that comes with the Garmin version of the device. However, instead of a connector, the end of the very long wire harness has a bunch of wires and no connector. This may sound like a silly question but how is it supposed to attach to the Garmin? Can I buy the right connector and where can I find a diagram that shows which wire is supposed to go to what pin? The 740s came with a wiring harness with a bunch of wires as well but there is an actual plug that has a tag on it that says "transducer".
Again, forgive me if this sounds like a silly question. I assume that this is all NEMA2000 stuff? The picture on the box shows a bunch of fancy plugs connecting all devices.

Thanks!

The Airmar is available in NMEA 0183 and 2000 versions. Do you know which you bought? The Garmin 740 has both interfaces.

The fact it has bare wires suggests to me that it is 0183, as my DST800 in the NMEA2000 version came with a connector.

Hey,

The DST800 you bought will send depth information to the 740S. So if all you want to display is the depth of the water it will work. However, it won't connect to the Sounder port on the 740S or allow the 740S to display the fishfinder screen. If you want to display that information you will need a different transducer.

Personally, I bought a cheap (~$60) garmin transducer to connect to my 740 specifically so I can 'see' the bottom. Mine is a 'transom mount' however I expect it will work just fine to shoot through my epoxy hull. I haven't connected it (no time to run the cable under cabin sole, etc.) so I can't verify that, but I did the same thing with my O'day and it worked very well.
