I need to replace the separate depth finder & knot meter on my boat this year & have been looking at the i50 Tridata that's a combination depth/speed unit. It has two transducers so I don't have to glass over another hull opening.
I did post this question to another forum & after 94 nipples (views) there was no bites. I personally do not like posting subject lines across the forums so if anyone has any experience with these instruments I'd appreciate any input, good or bad before I make a $600+ dollar mistake.
I've always had good experiences with Raymarine's instruments. I believe they are pretty bulletproof, particularly the depth and knot meters. They network together in their proprietary network called "seatalk" which is plug and play. Others will talk about problems with their service if you have an issue but frankly, I have sent my multifunctional display back for service and had very personal responsive service.

Bob, if you like the i50 Tridata then by all means go for it. You'll find it reliable and not difficult to install or use.
If you don't like to cut 2 holes you can also buy a "Triducer" (depth/speed/temp all in one unit) to suit, made for Raymarine by Airmar, but make sure you get the correct model. It's an expensive option for the sake of an extra hole in hull, but well worth it IMO.
I installed the i50/i60 package last year, networked to chartplotter and autopilot (all Raymarine) without an issue, all plug and play. Posted a question to the Raymarine techs on their forum, got an answer the next day. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase thier instruments again. I had to cut the through hull holes a bit bigger to allow fit.
