Datamarine Depth Sounder

I have a datamarine depth sounder S200DL
The transducer is good but the display is bad Does anyone know if the transducer is compatible with any other display.

There is a used one ,datamarine, on ebay but its up to over $175 with shipping. I can get mine repaired for almost as much but just wondering if an other unit might be cheaper

LOL...is it just me or does it seem that Datamarine has put a bug in their depth sounders so all stop working after 2007?

You might try DMI Marine for repairs, DMI Marine, Inc.

My depth went out about three years ago, it was not repairable, so I ended up replacing all my sailing instruments. I hope you have better luck

I tried DMI. They told me that the new units are not compatible with the old transducers.

DMI is very reliable, and I've used them many times. However, what they may have meant talking to rmcneny is that their new DMI Phoenix depth sounders use active transducers, transmitting an NMEA 0183 signal. The Datamarine Corinthian sounders used passive transducers at 197kHz, 200kHz, and 210kHz. Assuming you have one of these last three, you can probably cobble together a working system with almost any instrument head that uses 200kHz PASSIVE transducers. I have a customer who is happily using a Datamarine Corinthian S200DL instrument with a 200kHz Garmin Transducer (the opposite problem). Remember, almost all depth transducers are made by Airmar. Having said all that, if the instrument were mine, I'd send it to Steve at DMI for repair. They will give you a guarantee for several months; Ebay usually gives you 7 days or less.

this summer @ DMI for $200. Returned in time promised, 5 weeks @ height of season. Given that it is most likely original to my 1985 boat, not much complaint there as to how they last. Ultimately I will replace because I want to unclutter helm with smaller more modern instruments.
