I think you are confusing the steaming light with an anchor light.
I believe this is correct. You probably want a white stern light pointing behind, red and green nav lights pointing to the sides, a white steaming light (maybe halfway up the mast) pointing forward, and an white anchoring light on top that is 360 degrees.

If your boat is insured you want to only install USCG certified navigation lights and use the replacement bulbs from the manufacturer that were in the fixture when it was certified.
- - I think there are some LED navigation fixtures that are certified and can be installed. But mixing and matching is not a good idea if you carry insurance on the boat. You claim for an incident involving lighting could be denied. If uninsured then you do what you want.

As posted previously, the steaming light is 225 degrees of coverage aimed forward along the centerline....not 160...

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.
