Need to find a swing arm

I have a Catalina 27. I have purchased a Garmin 740s GPS (https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?...pID=37721) and a Standard Horizon GX 2100 (AIS version) (Welcome to StandardHorizon.com). I want to mount both of these on a swing arm so they can swing into the companionway to be seen from the cockpit and then when not in use swing back into the cabin. I need suggestions for the swing arm. Does anyone have a suggestion?

Good Old Boat Magazine had a couple of good ideas for a couple of swing arms that you could make for a relatively modest price. I think they were in the Nov/Dec 2010 and Jan/Feb 2011 editions.

Good Old Boat - Articles Search

These articles aren't available online. If you don't subscribe to Good Old Boat, you likely should but I bet some of your marina mates will have a copy to loan to you.
(I have no relation to Good Old Boat magazine... I just enjoy their well written and informative articles)

Swingarm

I bought mine from West Marine about 4 years ago. Last time I looked though, I didn't see them there. It looks like this one:

I just Googled "sailboat gps swignarm" found a few for sale, here is one:
RAM Vertical Double Swing Arm Marine / Boat Mount for Many Fishfinders and Chartplotters RAM-109V-1

Do a search for Ram Mounts. I have one for my GPS and love it. If you do not find exactly what you want you can mix and match from their standard parts but it will cost more.

That pic by mdbee reminds me of my TV mount, WalMart $29
It has 3 joints and is very rugged. Easily modified w/ tubing to extend it.

Make Your Own

I use a mahogany board, 3/4-in. thick and about 4 x 5 in.

Hinged to the inside companionway molding with brass hinges. Held in operating position with simple hook and eye latch.

Swings into stowed position inside cabin where it's held by a swivel-eye piston snap hook, latching onto a small shackle.

Mounts stereo speaker, remote VHF speaker, small handheld GPS mounting bracket.
