c-map charts

I know this has been discussed previously but I'm damned if I can find the thread, so apologies for new.

If a chartplotter uses Cmap NT+ charts can you use MAX , accepting that the additional MAX features that NT+ lacks will not be functional or are they completely incompatible.

I thought I'd read that this was the case but am not certain about it.

Minnewaska will become famous soon enough
This should help. Depends on the plotter.

Jeanneau 54DS

In the harsh marine environment, something is always in need of repair. Margaritas fix everything.

Bugger. Thats not what I wanted to hear. In the main, NT and NT+ chips are seriously more expensive than Max. In Max you can get one chip that covers all of Australia. For NT and NT+ you need twenty or thirty of the damn things.

Hi Andrews, I think you get it wrong. You can get the wide charts:

C-MAP Chart Catalogue - Max / NT+ Charts Quick Reference

Marc, you are talking about the dollars I presume ? It is still an expensive way to go. As I said earlier our current plotter uses MAX so we have one chip to cover all of Australia and a large slab of Oceania. It was about the same price as only one of the NT+ wide charts and for what I have in mind I'll need at least fours of the things.

Paulo, you are correct of course, I was looking at the narrow chart list.

However back to my previous question and just to confirm ....

NT+ will or will not work on an NT machine ?

MAX will or will not work on an NT machine ?

MAX will or will not work on an NT+ machine ?

Of course which ever way it goes the paper back ups will probably be a damn sight more again.

I had a Ray marine C70? from 2002. I am pretty sure that it was a NT machine. First the charts were small then they come with the wide NT and I had them. I am pretty sure the ones I used lately were NT+. I am also pretty sure it cannot read Max.

Just ask Ray marine to be absolutely sure.

Paulo

I believe a unit that uses nt can not process all the data on a nt+ If you can borrow a + card it would be worth a try

OK, I was right. Not all can read Nt+, mine could and could not read MAX.

mine was this: Radar/Plotter

Raymarine Marine Electronics - RL70C Plus

I found out a list with the compatibility. Mine was completely compatible but they say about most of others: Not all NT+ features supported

Here is the list:

Electronic Charts on Cartridge--Raymarine Plotters
