Can someone recommend a GPS?

I am looking into get a handheld GPS. I will only be using it for Lake Ponchartrain and the Gulf Coast. Trying to decide between Garmin or Magellan. I am looking at two of them... Garmin GPSMAP 76Cx GPS at The GPS Store, Inc. and this one Garmin Etrex Legend H GPS Navigator at The GPS Store Any other recommendations for just a casual use GPS? I do want it to show the waterways.

The 76 is a good unit. You also may want to look at craigslist and ebay for price comparison. Could save you some money.

Ditto on the 76. I originally had the 76 as the first GPS on the boat 'til I could afford installing a chartplotter. Still have the 76 as a back if needed.

I love my 76 CSX, It's not the best for viewing charts, but I find it great for downloading routes and waypoints from Mapsource into it. I have a 546 on the boat..but still use the handheld quite a bit.

It gives me tides, alarms, a Barometer ( with graph) and more. I don't think garmin makes it anymore...I see them going for under 200.

Nothing wrong with a Garmin 72 either. I have both a 76 and a 72.
