Through cabin coax connector

Just joined the trailer sail boat world and have a question - where can I find a connector for getting the VHS mast coax through the cabin top? As a trailer rig, the coax has to disconnect to lower the mast for transportation. I've checked online and cannot find the parts. Thanks.

These are standard 50ohm connectors. Mostly seems like users are using TNC (the 2nd one).

they make some longer ones that are continuously threaded that you can permanently mount through the cabin top, and such

IMHO, it's not a good idea to use UHF barrel connectors for this purpose. They, and the PL-259's which screw into them, are far too prone to corrosion and water intrusion to be used on deck.

Much better to use a thru-deck fitting which will allow you to carry the coax, with it's PL-259 connector, belowdecks, where it can be screwed into a short barrel connector/PL-259 on coax leading to the radio. Blue Sea Systems makes one which will work fine.

NB> These are available in 3 sizes. The PL-259 connector needs an 18mm clearance, so the BS-1002 (with a 21.18mm hole size) is the one you need.

Can't argue with your logic but I need to disconnect the coax at the mast to lower it. I have seen barrel type connectors with weather guarding for this purpose but cannot find one at this point. Thanks.

I too have been looking for one in vain and tonight I came across this Through deck coax fitting for mast mounted antenna- Precision 23

Not sure if its still available from the Shack or if it will work for you, but its an idea

did some more searching and found these UG-363 Bulkhead and this site seems to have 1.75' connectors but also has weather proof cap and chains - cables and connectors

Thanks to all. Decided to go with the clam shell through deck mentioned by "btrayfors" above- available from West Marine or others will order it. That way I won't have to worry about the corrission on the plug since it will be inside the cabin.
