Can I use my Garmin GPS antenna with my Raytheon Plotter?

First of all, I've searched.....and searched.....and then searched again, so if I've overlooked this question, please forgive me and point me in the right direction. Now, on with the show;

Being rather on the "frugal" side, I'd prefer to use and then reuse what I already own. I picked up a Raytheon Raychart 420 plotter the other day, and I need an antenna for same. I have a Garmin GA29 and I'm wondering if there's a way to splice into it and configure the wiring for the 420? I already happen to have a plug for the 420, complete with a wiring diagram to allow for connection to a Raymarine 125 receiver, but I'd like to avoid that $300.00 price tag if at all possible and since the look the same on the outside. Are there other alternatives if the Garmin doesn't work? I guess the 125 is so costly because it's both an antenna and a receiver, but I don't believe my old 420 needs the receiver part, so why pay for it, right?

I have a Garmin chartplotter and a small Garmin handheld. Both will work as GPS receivers when wired into computers using plotting software such as Sailcruiser, Open CPN, and Sea Clear. I think the GPS signal is standard and probably will work with the right connectors. Your plotter probably has a selection screen for the type signal. If I remember, I have to make sure it is on the Garmin USB protocol in Sailcruiser. Hope that helps.
