ST4000 Auto-Helm

I am looking into the purchase of a C&C 30 with a Auto-helm ST4000 with is this an out dated system. it has wind direction, wind Speed, Trim, Depth, Hull speed, Ect. Just worndering if it is good electronics or out dated stuff?

I guess the answer is - Is it in good working order?

I dont think you buy the boat with the old electronic gear, you just buy teh boat and accept or replace where needed.

Previously installed gear is dubious by nature so probably should not be the selling point anyway. The integrity of the yacht, its rig, engine etc are primary. Brokers will enjoy listing and pushing all the 'other' stuff on a boat.

Some of it is brand new in the box never been installed. The Auto helm wheel motor is installed and all the transducers are installed but the gauges them self's were packed away. I was meaning in general ? is The raython Autohelm good equipment in general?

That's all good quality stuff. I used an A4000+ autopilot for way over a decade and then replaced it with a new Raymarine X-5. My old system went onto a friends 38' boat and it's still working fine.

What model series are the other instruments? I installed a set of Raymarine St-60's in 2002 and they still work like new.

No matter what kind of instruments you have, "plus One" on the advice in reply #2.

ps: which C&C 30? The 70's version is considered one of the very best of the "modern classics".

Its good gear :LB (Olsen) is very correct

Now the next issue is for you to install it properly.

Saying this; I spent quite a few years and lets say a few nm with just an echo sounder and a garmin 12 (replacing the 38). To see where the wind was coming from and its strength, I look up!

So, a lot of instrumentation is very nice, but if you havent got it or it is old and dubious, look at the telltales. I do this in spite of having wind instruments.

Anyway, sounds like you have a well respected yacht. Have you got any pics of it?
