New-to-me chart plotting gear!

I managed to cobble together a 12 volt netbook running Linux, and OpenCPN, and got my Garmin 76Cx talking to it.

Pretty exciting. (to me, anyway) I just need some serious velcro to stick this thing to my chart table.

Congrats!

Do a search on Google for "Industrial Strength Velcro" and then take your choice. There are some local stores that carry it too, and you'll see them listed as well.

What did you do to get your Garmin 76cx to talk to the netbook?

Tom

Re: New-to-me chart plotting gear!

Because I am on a variety of boats I use a Tree Frog pad to hold my netbook on the chart table. So far no issues.

I use the non-skid mats they sell for drawer liners. The rubbery feeling stuff.

Re: New-to-me chart plotting gear!

My new netbook has built-in GPS. I'm looking forward to seeing if the installed GPS works as well as the puck. It seemed to work well in the car.
