I understand that it feels risky to drill hole in the boat, but I think you are over-dramatizing this task.

I really appreciate it. I did a bunch of work on my Triumph, though that was made out of a material called Ropolene which was easily plastic welded. I'll have to get over my fear of fiberglass soon because I've got a cracked battery box corner which is need of repair by this season.
