Garmin 18" HD radar error code 6 is fixed!

I took my son out for a sail two weeks ago and was proudly showing him the radar I had installed. Yikes! Error code 6! S*#$! I hate to put the boat away with a problem pending. I had never gotten an error in 2 years of operation. Error code 6 is a voltage issue. I had added the xm radio to the switch that the radar is on. The radio was off! O-well. A few days later, after searching for answers on the web, while sitting in Northeast Harbor, hiding from Sandy, I pulled the wire that powered the radio. Voilla! Radar is back! Whew. I didn't understand that that would or could or how it caused a voltage problem even when the radio was off. Perhaps there is a problem with the radio. It is in the next room waiting for an inspection.

Any ideas?
