Navman 8120 user card

I have a Navman 8102 plotter (identical to the replacement Northstar M121) and I need to transfer Waypoints etc to a user card. When I insert a 2mb SD card, the plotter just tells me "device not present". I removed my map card before inserting the user card - as per the manual - but all to no avail! What am I doing wrong? Has anyone else had this problem?

No luck with their customer support? I'd try that first.
