Northstar M84
So I picked up a used Northstar M84 head unit. Looks nice, except I can't connect anything to it :)
I was hoping the NMEA input would be on the same connector as the power (LT8) but alas it's on a different connector.
I don't fancy paying $200+ for a GPS antenna to plug into it, and of course I can't get the cable to allow me to connect an NMEA anymore.
Anyone know where I can get LT8 connectors, and what the pin-outs on the Fuel/Nav connector are so I can make my own?

Re: Northstar M84
Aha! Picked up a used Navman 1240 GPS receiver in the Boater's Exchange, $20. Plug is all busted up but I've managed to connect it Heath-Robinson style. Now to go to the boat, power it all up and see if anything actually works.

Re: Northstar M84
It works! Bargain. So that's a full colour, 8" multifunction chartplotter, with charts from Puget Sound right round Vancouver Island, with a dedicated GPS receiver, all for $120. Sweeeeet. Just need to figure out how to mount it now.

Re: Northstar M84
FYI, in case anyone is googling this in future.
Navman 1240/Northstar 124 GPS unit pins:
1 - ground
2 - power input (+7 to 32v)
3 - not used
4 - NMEA data in
5 - not used
6 - NMEA data out
7 - not used
8 - not used

Northstar M84:
Power/data cable
Black - ground
Brown - not used
White - NMEA out
Blue - NavBus -
Red - power in, +10-35v
Orange - NavBus +
Yellow - auto power, connect to Red for auto power on/off, or connect to ground (or float) for manual power on/off
Green - external alarm output. Switches to ground on alarm, 200mA max.

I'm still trying to track down the other pin configurations, in particular the sonar and the fuel/NMEA input sockets. No luck so far...

Re: Northstar M84
Sorry to drag this one up from the past but,

I have just been given an old-ish (hardly used) Navman 8120 12" plotter and radar with updated Cmap charts.
It all seems to work well until I try inputting NMEA data.

After considerable googling I discover that among others the M84 has the same NMEA input via the Fuel/nmea port.
I have a LT8 plug which fits but it was found in a box in our boat yard with no knowledge of where it came from.

Which brings me to the Question (at last)
Did you or anyone else ever work out the pin configurations for the fuel/nmea input so I can plug in my ais.

Many thanks

Re: Northstar M84
Cured my issue - Nmea in is,
pin 1 = nmea - (black)
Pin 3 = nmea + (white)

Valid for the Navman 8120 and associated plotters including Northstar etc
