Garmin gps map 76c

Just acquired one of these at a yard sale. Looks like a good rugged hand held and has base mapping Just wondering if marine charts for BC coast are available for this product? The unit does not have a usb cable so hopefully can still acquire one. Thank you

Re: Garmin gps map 76c

Yes, you have to buy the regional micro chip charts from Garmin.

Ah... Actually not. The GPSMap 76 charts must be up-loaded from a BlueChart CD. I believe the last BlueChart CD that was available was from 12/2008 although they may still be available by resellers. The more problematic matter is having to buy the Unlock Codes from Garmin, which allow the charts to be copied into the memory of only two devices. For what it's worth, the GPSMap 76c user manual is availalbe at http://static.garmincdn.com/pumac/GP...nersManual.pdf

Yes. In order to access the "maps" as Garmin calls them, you need an unlock code that is keyed to your specific unit(s). Go to Garmin's website and check out Maps FAQ. Sorry old son. Unfortunately, Garmin leaves a lot to be desired, as you will discover.

FWIW...
