best emergency fix for gas tanks I've found is to keep a tube of 'seal-all' around, it works on
fuel tanks with
fuel dripping out, just wipe off any crud, the seal all sticks right through gasoline or diesel, can rely on it.patched my bronco tank on the side of a trail a few years ago after hitting a rock, and it's still holding
fuel without leakage. I won't recommend it as a permanant patch, simply because I prefer to weld or otherwise repair a
fuel tank, but it's great as a quick fix, and is solid and reliable, I figure that if it can hold up to offroad abuse, under the same conditions that put the hole in the tank originally, I can rely on it.
If it is coing through the weld I'd say it's likely a corrosion issue. If the tank is easily removed, pull it and inspect the interior for corrosion, if the inside is messed up it's normally a better idea to look for a replacement, if it's ok, find someone to go over the weld again where it's leaking. They do have sealer for
fuel tanks that are dumped inside and swished around to seal the tank, but tha needs to have the tank pulled so you can move it around and coat the entire interior.
