Boot Key Moorings Filling Up Early

Moorings are at 70% already, and it's not even Halloween. No reservations so you might wanna give the City Marina a call and check availability prior to arrival. There are also open anchorages in the harbor as well as Sister Creek, but these are filling up as well. Looks like a busy year here in Marathon.

Re: Boot Key Moorings Filling Up Early

Cap, the mooring balls were at 60 percent when I talked with Sean at the marina. With 70 percent filled, that still leaves more than 60 of the 226 mooring balls still available. But, they will quickly be taken by mid November. I just checked the web cam and it's still offline, which is the norm for this damned camera system.

Good luck,

Gary

I wonder how much of that is because of damage further North?

They fill by mid December now and become extremely hard to get till April. Friends sat for 2 weeks in January and their #18 spot on the list never changed

Exactly right. We arrived in Marathon Dec. 16 last year. Already a waiting list, so we just anchored out most of the winter in the upper Keys and south Miami area.

Steady NE winds all last winter kept a lot of folks here that would have normaly moved on to the islands... Cooled way off last Sunday and small craft advisory expected up till the weekend. Note to self, unpack long-johns.
