Key West Bight Marina is nice and really close to all the action, but it is pricey. You can anchor by Christmas Tree Isalnd or Flemming Key. I prefer to anchor off of Flemming Key. The water is about 25' deep so have plenty of rode and set at least a 5:1 scope since the current is strong. The dinghy dock is at Key West Bight and runs about $26 a week or $80 month, and the water is free. Another alternative is the mooring balls, but I never tried those since they were too far away for my like.
