A Noiseless Wind Generator

In one of your pictures of Safari, I noticed the size of the blades on your wind gen. What about the vibration factor underway and at anchor?

Bert Malatesta

Sue and Larry respond:

Dear Bert,

One of our major criteria in choosing our wind generator was that it be quiet. Several years ago when we were in the Bahamas, we dinghied up to other boats and turned off our engine to compare noise levels of various brands. The wind generator we chose is the Aerogen 6, by LVM, which is totally quiet, and free of vibration. We would also recommend the Windbugger, or the FourWinds, because they seem to possess similar characteristics. In our opinion, the Air Marine model widely sold by mail-order places tends to be the noisiest and produce the most vibration. In fact we personally know cruisers who have sold this wind generator because they were unhappy with its characteristics.
