Wiring Windlasses

Somewhere, some time ago, I saw an article on your website about windlasses and the various options for wiring them into an electrical system on board. I can't find it now. Can you help?

SailNet responds:
Thanks for the question. Actually, we've got a couple of articles that address that particular issue. The best way to find them, or anything else you might want to know about, is to use the SailNet Search tool. Just log on to the homepage, or really any page on the website and find the Search box. All you have to do is to type the word or words that you're hunting for in that box.

Now in the case of the article that you're looking for, just try typing "windlasses" into the Search box. You'll find that the results will show up in three categories: Store Results; Resources & Community Results; and Article Results. The last one of those is where you want to go. Just click on that where it says "There are 69 articles matching 'windlassess,'" and doing that will take you to a numerical list of results. In this case, the first article you see at the top of the list: Choosing and Installing an Electric Windlass by Sue & Larry, is the one you were originally asking about.

If you briefly glance down the list you'll see there are a number of articles and Ask the Expert responses that could be of use to you regarding wiring windlasses, particularly the fourth one: Wiring Windlasses by Sue & Larry.

Here's hoping that this information helps you solve your windlass wiring issues, and helps you find additional information on SailNet in the future.
