Anodized Mast Touch Up

I recently purchased a Precision 23 that had been trailered extensively. The previous owner was pretty casual about the rigging and dinged the anodized coating on the mast in several places. These spots now have black oxide and look pretty bad. I know anodizing is an electrostatic process and not subject to "patching". I've thought of buffing out the spots and waxing as a temporary fix.

Any other ideas?

Re: Anodized Mast Touch Up

clean it with soft scrub apply a coat of wax and go sailing. buffing will remove the anodizing which is a layer of aluminum oxide on the surface. if you are worn through the anodizing then the only way is to paint the section
