Kicker motor mount problem

Thanks all for your continued assistance. Almost finished with the raised chainplates. Will post the pictures. They look great.

I have a 9.9 Mercury attached to Chinook (US Yacht 25), via motor mount, not the transom. You raise and lower the motor by way of a stainless steel lever on the left side of the mount. The lever is cracked, needs a good bead of weld, which I think I can do.

The boat is in a slip. I'd like to support the motor with straps in the raised position, and remove this lever. Looks like it will come off by loosening a nut.

I did look online for a comparable model, found something similar, but not exact. They recommend leaving the job to experts, that you need a jig and other equipment due to springs involved.

Anyone have a similar problem? Thanks for any help.

I have done some welding, mostly on mild steel. I believe stainless can be somewhat tricky, special rod, heat control, and so on. Can't quite picture your set up but if the lever carries much of a load, maybe having a pro do it would be safer. If something is "spring loaded" be careful when taking it apart

Re: Kicker motor mount problem

There are quite a few different designs. A picture of the mount would help.
