Re: New deck stepped mast for Trintella 42 /USA

Thanks for the video and yes I was surprised by the riggers comments at this late stage, I am now waiting for some clarification from the spar maker. BTW I had Robert Perry work out the moments and recommend what type of mast to install. Could not find a suitable second hand mast so had to go this route.
Had to come out of retirement to pay for the stick!! So has to be right. Thanks your comments

That is a good question,I suppose that because I bought the mast through him as the agent,I relied on his knowledge rightly or wrongly. He is supposed to rig the mast once it arrives. (at extra cost of course!!)

that is good looking boat
The boat in this post have in line spreaders..
The boat originally was designed with in line spreaders and you are going for swept spreaders you must revise the chainplate / mast location.

If you are switching from Continuous to discontinuous rigging it might be possible to use the aft chainplate for the shrouds lower vertical and keep the mast location.

But you need proper engineering to make the right decision.

You can read more about this here http://www.sparcraft.com/uk/products.../spreaders.pdf

It's kind of curious that Selden and the rigger seems to disagree, who specified the new mast?

Re: New deck stepped mast for Trintella 42 /USA

knuterikt, thanks the info, and yes in-line spreaders are being supplied as well as discontinuous rigging. The various hit and miss decisions ( i.e. move ,don't move )were what worried me in the first place and hence my post to get further ideas/assurances .
Initially I went to Bob Perry to spec the mast and I have full confidence in his decision,it was what the rigger came up with that worried me.
Thanks again to all
