It couldn't be a phone line, could it?

Sorry that I don't have a pic to post for you. This has me stumped. I have what looks like an telephone wire that runs to a block in the cabin. There looks to be (maybe) 8-10 wires connecting to a block. The wires are a very small gauge and from the block I loose them behind some wood and I can't follow where they go from there, the mast? The wires are far too small of a gauge to power any significant lighting, motor or pump. Any ideas?

Low voltage wire can look like that. For example, I'm thinking of the wire that connects to my exhaust temp sensor.

Ok, so it could actually be to the mast light and forward nav lights?

If its 8 wires on a connector strip/block, 4 on each side, couldnt it be an NMEA connection ? A picture could really help. What different colours are the wires ? You could always disconnect carefully (take a picture before) and see what fails !

The only thing that doesn't fit, is that the block is located midships, near the mast support post.

Probably not. Very low voltage more likely, like instruments, alarms, etc.
