$10 West Marine telescoping boat show special. Bought it in '08 when we bought the boat.

I like the idea of using a telescoping paint roller handle for the extra beef.

Re: How old is your boat hook?

I have an older telescoping one that came with the boat and a telescoping WM boat show special.

I just used the WM one (it's longer) to untangle my main halyard from the steaming light. At max extend, it can just reach high enough.

Note to self: Don't let halyards go slack and bounce around.

Re: How old is your boat hook?

An extendable painting pole would make an excellent boat hook. Great idea!!!
