Plastic mast track removal??

I own a 1986 C&C 33. There is a plastic track that is installed in the original slug track on the mast. The track starts a few feet above the boom and there was a slug stop screwed into the mast at that point but I can't reef the sail with it screwed in. It is becoming quit a pain to have to use a screw driver, unscrew the stop and not lose everything every time I reef. And I have to re-install it before I drop the main or the slugs just spill out. I have searched the internet looking for what ever this track might be in the hope I could order a few feet and install it all the way down to the mast. Or, I am guessing I can somehow remove the plastic track and then go back to the original size sail slugs but I have no experience with this and was wondering if anyone on this forum has had to do this. Or at least knows of someone who has and hopefully offer a few words of wisdom.:)

Thanks on advance

I understand your situation and have dealt with the same issue. I have used a quick release pin with a small line secured to a ring on the end to a fixed point so I can't drop and lose it. Simply drill out the present screw to a diameter that accepts the SS pin. Pull the pin to allow the desired number of slugs to pass and then reinset the pin. Someone might have a better idea, but this has worked for me.

Some pictures might help others see what you have today.
Sounds like a strange setup.

I will take some pics when I go to the boat this weekend. but its not like the one shown in the link. I have done extensive research on this using the internet and have not been able to find anything like it.
