Groco Head Repair

Groco HF-style head was rebuilt/upgraded several years ago with much success. Now notice that in the ''dry-bowl'' position, a sufficient amount of foul material dribbles down the sides of the bowl to creat nasty odors.
QUESTION:
Is a repair kit ($50) absolutely necessary, or can I expect that by disassembling, cleaning and relubing the valve box components; this condition can be eliminated????

If it has been several years since the last rebuild I would suggest the more expensive Master Rebuild Kit over the $50 kit. The Master Kit has some additional parts, most noteworthy the key part to make the pump work efficiently. The whole rebuild only takes about 30-minutes and you effectively have a new head.
