Hart tank monitor - any experiences?

I am considering installing the Hart multi-tank system to monitor our five tanks. I like the lack of electrics and the ability to deal with any tank. I'm not so sure about all the hole drilling, blowing air through fuel and potential syphon risk. Does anyone have any experience with these devices that might help me decide?

Thanks
Graham

Re: Hart tank monitor - any experiences?

The Hart system is very good. It is extremely accurate and you are correct that it uses no power to operate. I have been using it for 3 years now. The folks that support it are awesome. The tubes are very small and there is really no chance of siphoning or cross contamination. The holes are about 3/8" in the top of the tank. I find that the only time I have to purge the tube is for the holding tank.

The only other system I would consider is the SCAD system that I had on my previous boat.

Re: Hart tank monitor - any experiences?

We used them on our fuel and water tanks for years. I highly recommend them. they worked perfectly with no issues, including the install. Don't use them on holding tanks. Chuck

Thanks Chuck,

Why not on holding tanks? Did you have a bad experience?

Graham
