Hatch Latch

Annie has the usual barrel latch on the sliding hatch to the companionway. And when the washboards are in place, of course, the barrel latch can only be operated from below. I've seen passing references to latches that can be operated from either inside or outside. Anyone familiar with such a piece of hardware? Would it be something homebuilt or is there a commercial solution. Greatly appreciate any info.

Re: Hatch Latch

There was a thread on this over at SA recently, as it is a requirement for certain offshore races. My favorite solution was a spring loaded latch mounted vertically on the inside of the top hatch board and that had a cord attached to it that was fed out through the vent slots, thus allowing you to operate it from outside.
