Speaking of taking decals right off (decals, not vinyl) I've also seen automobile brake cleaner just zip all sorts of things off. Not sure how good it would be for gelcoat and pretty sure it would damage paint though.

Don't forget about the WD40. I used it (sparingly) on my GoldWing bike numerous times to remove unwanted adhesives and stickers.
