Hmm.. You want a positive lock so the boards don't get underway but not need a tool of any type to open it.

These are the best I've found. Not used them yet.

This is not a bad suggestion but the plates would sure seem to take up a lot of real estate unless one could use a slotted cleat on one end of a board and only a single lock on the other, eh?
