What was Westerbeke in a former life ?

I have seen the cross reference for Universal diesel engines to the Kubota engines they were made from, does the same thing exist for Westerbeke engines. I am looking for a cross reference for the Westerbeke 47

With my Westerbeke 27, the giveaway is the Mitsubishi engine and serial numbers embossed on the block in the area where the throttle controls are. It's a Mitsubishi K4D. If yours is not a mitsu, it's got to be another make--I don't think W'beke made any of their own, as you probably know. I think I heard that some were Kubotas but could be mistaken about that.
Aside from the cooling system components and a few other things, like the alternator, the engine parts should for the most part be interchangeable.
You might try comparing individual part numbers between makes. I seem to recall the mitsu and w'beke part numbers were the same. And they can be a lot cheaper if you don't have to buy from w'beke.

My Westerbeke 63 is a Mazda tractor engine. The block and internal parts are Mazda external parts are by Westerbeke. Their current blocks are from Kubota. The Japs engineering and precision manufacturing is the best!

And just to add a further twist to the saga the Perkins 154 was made under licence by Mazda and was then used by Westerbeke.
