Rust colored organisms

We have many aproximately 1/8" "stains" in our cockpit. We think they''re from using harbor water to flush the cockpit. We''re in Great Kills Harbor, off Raritan Bay NY_NJ. We''ve tried boat soap, straight bleach, bronze wool, comet, limeout. They fade but they''re imbedded. Anyone have this experience and a solution for it. Our boat is fiberglass and about 30 yrs old. It''s no where but the cockpit.

Are you certain that at some time you or a yard mechanic didn''t use your cockpit as a saw horse to cut off or grind a piece of metal? Small particles will stick pretty well and can be tough to remove.

Years ago I used steel wool to clean up a corroded fitting. The rust stains showed up soon after. Yikes!!! What a mess.
