if they say use 140w then i would use 140w oil not 90w . tractor supply companies carry it in single weight.

Thanks everyone for the helpful advice, I learned a lot. I also heard from a guy in the UK that sells parts for these discontinued windlasses. He said EP80 would be fine. So, I think based on everyone's input that I'll likely try a mulitgrade 85W-140 since that is so readily available and seems to fit the bill.
