gin pole lengt

hi everyone, I need your help again
I have a 23' Olympic Dolphin and I'm always having trouble raising my mast, especially since I often go solo
so I want to make a gin pole to help me raise my mast, so, my question is this: how long should I make it?????
I already bought a 8' 2x4 and I'm planning to add some side to cover the mast's thickness and a system to hold it on the mast so that I can tension the rig to start raising the mast
my mast is about 24' long

thanks in advance
FRED

Re: gin pole lengt

Do you have a spinnaker pole? We use ours as a gin pole to raise our mast.

Re: gin pole lengt

yes I have one, so how do you use it to raise the mast , I guess I haven't had enough coffee this morning
I can't figure how you attach it to the mast so it wont be wobbly

Re: gin pole lengt

Here's the guide we used to set ours up. Our mast is a good ~10 feet longer than yours, but this works.

Re: gin pole lengt

wow, good system, thanks, only drawback is I don't have any toe rails, so I can't use the threaded rods, but the system you shared is A1
thanks again
