1985 MacGregor keel

Hello, After posting whether to buy or not, I did! I now have a 1985 MacGregor on the trailer, and the keel laying beside it... I had originally assumed it slid into place from the inside, wrong. How does this thing go on?? And last but far from least where are the cables to raise and lower it??

Thanks for any help

Scott

It should look something like this when installed:

You can find a full manual for your new boat here:

Re: 1985 MacGregor keel

I owned a Mac 222 for a while. Make sure you do some measurements of the width of that swing keel to make sure it has not de-laminated from the steel and swollen to the point where it will not go back up into the keel pocket. The winch for the keel cable should be directly under the companionway entrance. To get that thing back in the boat you will likely have to lift the boat off the trailer and put the keel in after blocking the boat up and lifting the keel with a jack. Check out this guys thread on the subject.

have fun with the boat. She sails above here pay grade and balances like a boat much bigger.

I would rather admit I'm a fool with the possibility of finding I am not, than to deny it showing all that I truly am.
